I have been drafting my fair share of M13 and having a blast so far. With the M13 prerelease on MODO this past weekend and the release next, there is a lot of spells to be slung in the upcoming weeks. Opening new cards and just opening packs in general always gives me a little rush of excitement. Today I want to talk about some underrated common & uncommon picks in M13 Draft but not obvious 1st picks (ex. Murder, Oblivion Ring, Switcheroo, etc). Lets see what we have to work with…
From the Vault: Realms (Lands)

This is a special Land set for the ‘From the Vault’ series. It will be released on August 31st, 2012 and is supposed to cost $35 but that never happens. It will contain 15 lands and depending on what lands end up going in this will determine the ultimate price. Return to Ravnica is just around the corner. With much anticipation gained by the spoiler-esque picture of Jace and Niv-Mizzet just chillin’, the awesome setup of the pre-releases and the speculation that shock lands or a land very similar with basic land types will be returning, it’s gotten all Magic fans from the era of the original Ravnica block giddy like school girls. Or maybe that’s just me. Nonetheless it’s going to be awesome.

I’ve been playing Magic for many years and in that time the game has continued to evolve. White borders all changed to black borders, card frames became more “modern,” painted pictures changed to photoshop paintings and style guides became a thing. Planeswalkers joined the party, cards started being two-faced and grew in power with each set. The game has even evolved into the digital age where people across the world can play Magic together online.

Recently, Mark Rosewater made a comment that the Magic community needed to show some support for a 3rd Un set. So, through the glory of the MtG sub-reddit, a petition has started that is currently around 450 signatures including my own. Check it out and drop a signature to get some new future epic lands and some awesome drafting shenanigans!
