Standard Brewing – Mono Blue Humans

I built a semi-budget Mono Blue Human list that I was running in the Tournament Practice room on Magic Online with a lot of success.  Lets take a look at what we are dealing with…

Standard - Semi-Budget Mono Blue Humans

  • 21 Island
  • 4 Mana Leak
  • 1 Elixir of Immortality
  • 4 Aether Adept
  • 2 Stitched Drake
  • 4 Silver-Inlaid Dagger
  • 4 Ponder
  • 4 Vapor Snag
  • 4 Invisible Stalker
  • 4 Trinket Mage
  • 4 Snapcaster Mage
  • 4 Delver of Secrets
  •
  • -Sideboard-
  • 2 Dissipate
  • 2 Disperse
  • 4 Mental Misstep
  • 3 Phantasmal Image
  • 4 Flashfreeze

I built this before Avacyn Restored came out but I still sometimes run it to see how it does.  It, like a lot of creature decks, can have problems with board sweepers.  If you know your opponent is playing them, then you just need to bait it out and land an Invisible Stalker after they cast one.  Him, with the Silver-Inlaid Dagger are a complete house.  This list is pretty basic and straight forward with ways to beat Delver.  I wouldn’t take it to a StarCity event or anything like that but its definitely FNM worthy.  I don’t know why Delver stopped playing Invisible Stalker as that with an equipment means you just win in less time usually than your opponent.  I tried to keep the land count low since everything cost 3 or less.  I also love to play with Trinket Mage as it carries so much value!  Yes, I would love to go get an equipment and have a body to show for it…lets do it.  The most expensive card is Snapcaster Mage and I have it to utilize the Vapor Snag engine (if you can call it that).  It can beat creatures that may be faster than you while allowing you to tempo out your opponent with no Mythics!  If you find yourself sitting around wanting to test a different kind of deck, give this a shot.  Its a lot of fun.
