Written by It is said that every great story has an intricate and/or interesting beginning. This could be said to be our beginning of such an impressive journey that our great story will tell. This seems to be a proper moment for introductions of your storyteller, my name is Sergio Quevedo. I was introduced to Magic: the Gathering around 2003. My planeswalker days began on Mirrodin, where I fought in the many battles that consequently scarred its land. Since then, I have been on and off the game. I didn’t start playing on a competitive level until 2006 or so. Even though the first deck I ever played was Broodstar Affinity, my comprehension of the game from a competitive point of view was nonexistent. Like many others, I started playing in game rooms and stores for the innocent joy of the game. Little did I know, the hunger for victory would soon poison the well of innocence…
Limited Paradise is intended to be a series of articles where an average guy, yours truly, tackles the limited format. The intention here is in hopes of furthering my skill level and well as yours. *Disclaimer* I am clearly not the best at this game, nor do I advertise to be so. This will be a great exercise for both writer as well as reader. Open forum, through comments, to discuss lines of play and building strategy in a constructive manner. My weapon of choice will be the greatly underrated 4-Pack sealed format, but not limited to just that particular type. The format doesn’t offer a high level of EV as an 8-4 draft would, but it exceeds the EV offered by the 4-3-2-2/Swiss alternative. Our first installment will serve as an introduction to the format itself, with further in depth look at its intricacies as the articles progresses. Most of the articles will be in video form with the occasional written installments. Hope everyone enjoys this average guy’s take. Without further wait, let’s do this!
